Camping is the only “lodging” in Chaco. It is imperative to make a reservation if you are planning on camping (as well you should). If you have no reservation and the campground is full you will be turned away regardless or your arrival time and the nearest towns are at least 1½ hours away.

While drinking water is normally available at the visitor center, don’t count on it. On a trip in 2017 there was a contamination issue which caused a very limited supply of drinking water. As a rule of thumb, plan on bringing plenty with you.
